Fabled Motion Pictures

HISTORY

In 2005, a short war film, The Battle of Marks' Mill, was selected by IMAX to show before revival screenings of Ang Lee’s Ride With the Devil.

Derrick Sims, a 19-year-old journalism student, served as the film's writer/director as well as cinematographer & editor.

With the project's success, Sims & his partner Alaina founded Fabled Motion Pictures.

__________
In the years following, Fabled concentrated on producing pictures focused mainly on the American South.

Sims was soon positioned on the feature film, War Eagle, starring Brian Dennehy, Luke Grimes, and Mary Kay Place.

The next year, Fabled teamed up with Zac Heath, another War Eagle vet, to collaborate on the dramatic feature, The River Within.

Written & directed by Heath & photographed / edited by Sims, River was released in cinemas & on television and video in 2009.

__________
In 2010, FMP moved to Burbank, CA & co-produced their first European film, Making Light in Terezin.
Terezin was filmed throughout the Czech Republic as well as New York, New England, & Minnesota.

The film screened in festivals around the world & was distributed on US television by PBS.
Terezin is now available on iTunes and Amazon.

__________
In October 2011, Fabled Motion Pictures produced its first solo venture, Come Morning.

The film was written, directed, photographed, & edited by Sims & serves as a haunting love letter to his grandfather.

Morning premiered October 21, 2012 at the Austin Film Festival. Months later, Come Morning won the
Jury Award for Best Cinematography at the Oxford Film Festival & Best of Fest at the Charles B. Pierce Film Festival.

November 2013 saw a limited release in cinemas before being acquired by Monarch Entertainment for Blu-ray, DVD, digital and streaming distribution.

__________
In 2015, Fabled shifted its focus to commercials
when Derrick teamed with Adair Creative/Prisma, and alongside their team co-produced
many of their agency-based projects.

Among them was Little Sparks, a six episode series about a dysfunctional football team
& their exponentially dysfunctional coach. The series was produced by Walmart Inc.
and released February 2015.

In 2016, the team began work on The Perfect Host: A Southern Gothic Tale. After the production,
FMP left the United States for New Zealand where post production on TPH continued.

TPH premiered in Austin, Texas in 2018 and was released on Amazon Prime later that year.
It's currently available on Prime, Apple TV, The Roku Channel, Hoopla, & more.

__________
Now based in NZ's northern Wairarapa, FMP has recently collaborated on projects with the
